Nicholas - our brother

Nicholas was very small when he was born, he weighed four pounds. He had a tube up his nose to help with feeding. When people saw him they asked, “Why does he have a tube up his nose?”

Four years later he can do a lot more things. He has quite a few teeth. He can sit up, he can walk and he tries to run.

His favourite toy is the train set.

We play cricket and dad bowls. Nicholas tries hard to hit the ball but misses mostly.

The worse thing about Nicholas is he throws up all the time. It makes a lot of mess; he seems to do it at the worst time possible.

The best thing about having Nicholas is I get to go lots of fun places. He likes doing things that I like doing, like hockey, cricket and watching TV. He likes giving the family lots of cuddles.

Nicholas has a straight line down his chest because the doctors cut him there because they needed to fix his heart. I think having a heart operation would really hurt.

My brother Nicholas has Down syndrome, he can’t talk very good. He has sign language so I can understand him.

I have to help look after him.

The worst thing about Nicholas is sometimes we can’t go places because he needs a sleep.

The best thing about Nicholas is I get to watch “Arthur” a lot because we have it on video because Nicholas like it.

He gives lots of terrific kisses , he likes me reading him stories and playing hide and seek and giving him piggyback rides.

The End
